     Gilson Pond is a nice lake to visit. Gilson Pond gets a common amount of precipitation; August is the wettest month with most rain while February is typically the driest month. Poole Reservoir is a brilliant lake near Gilson Pond, and playing golf is lots of fun at Shattuck Golf Course. During the warm months at Gilson Pond highs are ordinarily in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 20's while  
   the cold winter nights at Gilson Pond are in the 0's.
The Harling Trail is a wonderful hiking trail next to Gilson Pond, and dry warm beds await you at E.F. Lane Hotel. The slopes of Crotched Mountain are so inviting noone can resist, and there are plenty of folks from Keene here at Gilson Pond. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things near Gilson Pond. On a great day at Gilson Pond you can take a hike along the Parker Trail, and a quick spree
 
               to Hinds Brook is positively a fine idea.
This lake is so wonderful. Gilson Pond Dam has splendid water scenery and it's near Gilson Pond, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Contoocook River. Lakes? Sure, Thorndike Pond is nearby, and a great place to camp here at Gilson Pond is Emerald Acres. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. If you need a place to stay Best Western Sovereign Hotel is a magnificent choice.
Near Gilson Pond you stumble on the Pumpelly Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail; there's whitewater on Ashuelot River - South Branch for all you adrenaline kick people. This lake is so wonderful. Gilson Pond is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Monadnock State Park Campground is a delightful local campground, and Woodbury Hill can be spotted from Gilson Pond.

Very shallow but a great large moulth fishery....This has got to be the best kept secret in New Hampshire!  A fantastic place to kayak or canoe.  I've seen great blue heron, ducks of many varieties, Canada geese and even two bald eagles.  It's easy to surprise beaver early in the morning as well as muskrat and oppossum.  I haven's spotted deer yet, but have heard them crashing off into the brush when I paddle too close to shore in the morning mists....
