   Pond is a nearby lake that you could check out, and Crotched Mountain is a very popular ski area around here. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff near Garfield Pond. On a pleasant day at Garfield Pond you can take a hike along the Pumpelly Trail, and Thorndike Pond Dam is a striking place, certainly worth a visit.
If you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Contoocook River, and going for a hike along the Parker
 
               Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. All through the summertime at Garfield Pond temperatures are usually in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Garfield Pond are in the 0's. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Whitewater paddling is great on Contoocook River - North Branch, and camping at Monadnock State Park Campground is always a pleasant experience.
This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Wachusett Mountain, and camping is available at Emerald Acres. After a long day outdoors Colonial Hotel is a magnificent site to spend a night or two, and it's a perfect idea to stop at Frost Brook. The yearly precipitation here at Garfield Pond is about average; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.

Very shallow but a great large moulth fishery....This has got to be the best kept secret in New Hampshire!  A fantastic place to kayak or canoe.  I've seen great blue heron, ducks of many varieties, Canada geese and even two bald eagles.  It's easy to surprise beaver early in the morning as well as muskrat and oppossum.  I haven's spotted deer yet, but have heard them crashing off into the brush when I paddle too close to shore in the morning mists....
