This lake is so wonderful. The sight of Murdough Hill from Carter Pond is stunning, and Oxbow Campground is a wonderful local campground. That right there is heaps already, but it keeps on going; Carter Pond has it all. Don't leave Carter Pond without first going for a       hike along the Monadnock Sunapee Trail, and if you need a place to stay The Henniker Motel is a nice choice. Gotta ski! Crotched Mountain is a great spot to do that; why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like The Country Club of New Hampshire. This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun. You could also stop at Contention Pond if you're here at Carter Pond; it's close by, and whitewater paddling is great on Warner River. Summertime                  at Carter Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Carter Pond. Looking for something right next door to Carter Pond? Mud Pond is nearby; at Carter Pond you always meet someone from Concord. There's great hiking along the Wapack Trail; if you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Contoocook River - North Branch. The amount of precipitation that falls at Carter Pond is close to the national average; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; January on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful.
