Mount Sunapee is a very popular ski area in the vicinity; Butternut Pond is not the only place close by, Grass                  Pond is a close by lake. The Clark Pond Loop offers hiking at its best. There's so much to do here at Butternut Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Mascoma Lake Camping Area is a splendid site for that. There's great hiking along the Dartmouth Outing Club Trail; dry warm beds await you at The Trumbull House Bed And Breakfast. This lake is so wonderful. You could also check out Anderson Pond while you're here at Butternut Pond; it's nearby; Whaleback has tremendous slopes and a friendly staff. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can stop at Butternut Pond Dam, and Lebanon Days Inn is a great spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. One of the overriding marks of the surroundings of Butternut Pond is Montcalm Hill, and Butternut Pond is right by the West Ridge Trail. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Butternut Pond with nighttime lows in the 50's.
