The Pumpelly Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Contoocook River - North Branch. Whitewater paddling is brilliant on Ashuelot River, and Barden Pond is a good location to visit for more than one day, Rand Pond Campground is a good location to camp nearby. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Barden Pond; Monadnock Sunapee Trail is       a fine local trail, and Idle Times Campground is a fine local campground. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Barden Pond, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Barden Pond. This lake is so wonderful. You're sure to come across some cheerful folks from Keene here, and a lake nearby is Rice Brook Pond. So much exciting stuff to do at Barden Pond,                  so little time. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Mount Sunapee, and getting to Rice Brook from Barden Pond is painless. Barden Pond gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. If you get bored of Barden Pond, you could also pop by nearby Hidded Pond, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Farmers Trail. Head up to Crotched Mountain and strap some skis to your feet; a good close by hotel is Best Western Sunapee Lake Lodge. Very fine water scenery is available at Rice Brook Dam in the neighborhood of Barden Pond, and on a beautiful day you get a glorious view of Copeland Hill from Barden Pond. This location is unbeatable, just explore all the entertaining things to do in close proximity to Barden Pond. E.F.
