Smith Lake gets very little rain; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is January. Spring Park Campground is a perfect campground nearby; Comfort Inn Ogallala is a brilliant spot to get some rest. Summertime highs at Smith Lake usually tend to be in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, typically in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs       in the 30's while Smith Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Smith Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Sand Creek Campground is a great location to camp nearby, and there's magnificent hiking along the Lake Ogallala Trail.
