This lake is so wonderful. The sight of Old Lady Beam Hill from Shafer Lake is beautiful; Brewer Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at. If you came for an overnight stay Dougs Texaco Campground is a glorious place to camp; Days Inn Of Alliance is a great place to get some rest. It is very arid here at Shafer Lake usually; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while January is mostly the driest month.       And that's not everything there is to do here in the Sand Hills. Why not camp at Hamburger Barn since you're here at Shafer Lake, and a lake nearby is Christ Lake. Throughout the warm months at Shafer Lake temperatures are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Shafer Lake temperatures sink to the 0's.
