It is very dried out here at Schmacker Reservoir usually; May is the month that gets the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Fox Reservoir is in close proximity to Schmacker Reservoir, and not far from Schmacker Reservoir you obtain some wonderful water scenery at Schmacker Dam. High temperatures at Schmacker Reservoir       during the summer are in the 90's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's while Schmacker Reservoir nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! Schmacker Reservoir is excellent! Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Chadron, and hiking along the Roberts Trail is splendid fun. A fine vista of stunning Trunk Butte                  is available from Schmacker Reservoir; you can have a good hiking adventure along the Rock Butte Loop. If you came for an overnight stay Roberts Trailhead Campground is a splendid site to camp. Camping at Schmacker Reservoir is good fun, Spotted Tail Campground is a good local campground, and why not take a little spree to Dead Horse Creek if you're here.
