This lake is so wonderful. At Schmacker Reservoir all through the months of summer highs are in the 90's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Schmacker Reservoir dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. The Roberts Trail offers hiking at its best, and Schmacker Dam is lovely. After a long day outdoors       Super 8 Motel - Chadron is a great place to spend a night or two, and if you came to camp Roberts Trailhead Campground is a delightful location to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Fox Reservoir, and camping at Spotted Tail Campground is always a great experience. A great nearby hotel is Best Western West Hills Inn, and Trunk Butte is easy to spot from Schmacker Reservoir. Take a                  hike on the Pine Ridge Trail, and why not pop by close by Dead Horse Creek while you're here at Schmacker Reservoir. It is very arid here at Schmacker Reservoir commonly; May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is January. This location is so good, just look at all the amusing things to do near Schmacker Reservoir.
