This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Copper Creek Connector Trail is always a great adventure. For the period of the summer months highs here at Nelson South Reservoir get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Nelson South Reservoir. What a place this is for outdoors people. Camping at       Wilson Island State Park is always a great experience, and a scenic lake like Exley Reservoir is a fine site to explore. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors La Quinta Omaha is a wonderful site to spend a night or two; a great place to camp here at Nelson South Reservoir is Glenn Cunningham Lake Campground. Do stop at Lonergan Reservoir near Nelson South Reservoir, it's a delightful lake, and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CHERRY HILLS                  is a wonderful place to get some rest. Looking for some flowing water? Try Turkey Creek, and during your tour here you'll meet some folks from Omaha-Council Bluffs for sure. Why not stop by Nelson South Dam since you're here; there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Desoto Bend Trail. Near Nelson South Reservoir you locate the Boyer Chute Trails which is a tremendous hiking trail, and Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail is a very great place to stop at.
