Merritt Dam is a beautiful place right next door to Merritt Reservoir; you can stay the night at Merritt Reservoir Main Area Campground. Not much rainfall falls here at Merritt Reservoir; through June this area sees the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. If you haven’t been to Niobrara National Scenic River, you have to schedule some       time for it if you're here. Summertime at Merritt Reservoir comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 30's while Merritt Reservoir nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's. There are some great whitewater spots on Snake River.
