Snake River has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot nearby; camping at Merritt Reservoir Main Area Campground is always a pleasant experience. At Duck Lake you don’t see much rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you came to camp Valentine KOA is a great site to do that, and Niobrara National Scenic River is a       magnificent national park. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Duck Lake with overnight lows in the 60's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Duck Lake tend to be in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
