Good hiking is available along the Pioneer Park Trails. Summertime highs at Doane Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Doane Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Walnut Creek flows through this area, and if you need a spot to stay       Americas Best Value Inn is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. There are other sites here than Doane Lake, for example Lothrop Reservoir; camping is available at Area One Campground. A glorious nearby hotel is Crete Super 8 Motel, and there are plenty of folks from Lincoln here. The amount of rainfall that falls at Doane Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest                  month of the year is January. There's great hiking along the Wilderness Park Trails; a round of golf at nearby College Heights Country Club is a magnificent way to kill some time.
