Niobrara National Scenic River is a perfect spot in the neighborhood of Dewey Lake. If you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Snake River, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Valentine. All through the warmest time of the year highs here at Dewey Lake get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's.       Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Dewey Lake temperatures fall to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There are other spots here than Dewey Lake, for example Cedar Lake. There's so much to do here at Dewey Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Merritt Reservoir Main Area Campground is a great spot for that. Dewey Lake is pretty arid generally; July is the wettest month with most rain;                  the driest month of the year is January.
