Nelson Lake, Oliver County, North Dakota     User input for Nelson Lake, Oliver County, North Dakota: Jared: Nelson Lake is a warm-water lake (80-100 in the summer months) due in part to its association with the Minnkota-Milton Young Power Plant.  The lake offers a pristine countryside backdrop with primitive accommodations for camping or building your campfire.  There are fish living in the water, mostly panfish and large & small-mouth bass.  The state record largemouth bass was caught in Nelson Lake. Nelson Lake is the official home of the annual SausageFest men's weekend.  SausageFest is a gathering of good friends, food, fun, and refreshments.  July 2008 will mark the 6th anniversary of the all-male nurse getaway. Not much rainfall falls here at Nelson Lake; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain; the driest month of the year is January. Take a side spree to Hagel Creek; Best Western Seven Seas Inn & Conference Center is a wonderful site to get some rest. There's always Nelson Lake Dam to explore near Nelson Lake, and an afternoon playing golf at Square Butte Creek Golf Course is always       a joy. At Nelson Lake during the summertime highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Nelson Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
