Going for a hike on the Birkhead Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and there are plenty of people from Lexington-Thomasville here. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Wheatmore Pond get into the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. For the period of the       wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and night lows through the winter for Wheatmore Pond tend to be in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Deep River offers some delightful whitewater, and after a long day outdoors Country Hearth Inn Thomasville is a good spot to spend a night or two. Wheatmore Pond is a pretty wet place commonly with a large amount of rainfall; the month of June is the wettest with most of                  the rain, and April on the other hand is the driest. Wheatmore Pond is not the only spot close by, Mendenhall Lake is a close by lake. Golf can be played at Winding Creek Golf Course, and there's some out of the ordinary stuff to see at Wheatmore Farm Lake Dam next to Wheatmore Pond.
