This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Fayetteville Koa is always a great experience, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Spring Lake-Ft. Bragg/Pope Afb. That right there is lots already, but it keeps on going; Wests Pond has it all. There are other spots here than Wests Pond, for example Smith Lake, and good hiking is available along the American Beech Trail. If you're visiting Wests Pond from Dunn, you won't       be the only one, and Sleep Inn ,Inn & Suites is a good location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Lazy Acres, and paddling on Upper Little River is so much fun. Wests Pond is a wet place that gets a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is November. During the summertime months, highs frequently are in the 80's at Wests Pond. When the night                  sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Wests Pond are in the 20's. There are swamps here too; Black Swamp is in close proximity, and whitewater paddling is great on Cape Fear. Not far from Wests Pond you obtain some nice water scenery at Smith Lake Dam; the Group Camp Trail offers hiking at its best.
