If you are in Harnett county it's always a good idea to stop by West Pond. You can run the rapids of Buckhorn Creek in the vicinity of West Pond, and you can stay the night at Heritage Camping and Recreation. This lake is so wonderful. Very fine water scenery is available at West Pond Dam right next door to West Pond, and there is a good hiking trail nearby called the Lanier Falls Trail. | | looking for close by lakes? Sure, Kiest Lake is just a very short distance away. West Pond really is in the middle of a pretty outdoors paradise. Holiday Inn Express Spring Lake-Ft. Bragg/Pope Afb is a great location to get some rest, and you're probably addicted to lakes, Buffalo Lakes is one of those nearby. There's whitewater on Little River for all you thrill seekers, and close by you find the Northington Ferry Trail which is a good hiking trail. This lake | |

is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Duncans Creek is a stream you can check out while here, and if you need a location to stay Sleep Inn ,Inn & Suites is a brilliant choice. All the water falling down from the sky
makes West Pond a wet site; July is the wettest month with most rain, and April is the month with the least moisture. On a good day at West Pond you can take a hike along the Campbell Creek Loop, and close to West Pond you hit upon
a golf course called Carolina Lakes Golf Course. High temperatures at West Pond all through the warm days of summer are in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for West Pond.

Smith Lake
 | 13 miles away Smith lake is a nice place to camp, bike ride and swim. I have 3 young children and they had a BLAST! We plan on going again very soon. Bathrooms were clean and out of some of the campsites I've been to this is the one I like....Nice area for hiking, running, mt biking. Also nice beach area for the summer.... |
