You'll stumble on a charming lake called Reedy Creek Lake near Umstead Park Lower Lake; swing by Pots Branch it's a delightful site to visit. A great close by hotel is Embassy Suites Raleigh Durham/Research Triangle, and Wildwood Green Golf Club is a perfect golf course close by. Through the winter highs are typically in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Umstead Park Lower Lake are in the 20's. Beaverdam Lake

Beaverdam Lake is really a part of Falls Lake. It is approximately fifteen minutes north of the I-540 beltway on Highway 50. Beaverdam Lake is separated from the main lake by a partial dam and bridge. It is approximately 500 acres in size.
Beaverdam Lake is restricted; no gasoline engines are allowed. This makes it a great place for kayaks, canoes, sailboats and electric-motor propelled boats. It has a very nice concrete boat ramp and adjacent dock, and has a very large parking lot. Adjacent to the boat launching ramp is a nice sand beach with floats delineating the swimming area and a small pavilion.
