The summit of Dehon Mountain can be seen from Tar Heel Lake; there's whitewater on Matthews Creek for all you adrenaline kick people. And that's not all the things to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Do go to Betty-Kay Lake close to Tar Heel Lake, it's a beautiful lake, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Black Mountain Trail. High temperatures at Tar       Heel Lake through the days of summer are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Tar Heel Lake. Tar Heel Lake gets a good deal of water; March is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is January. Just can't get enough of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You'll meet a lot of folks from Brevard here; a picturesque lake like Betty Kay Lake                  is a good place to go to. Tar Heel Lake is a pleasant place to visit for more than one day, Camp High Rocks is a pleasant place to camp nearby; close by Gum Gap is a fine location to go. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll love Tar Heel Lake. Near Tar Heel Lake you find the Mullinax Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail, and going for a hike on the Thompson Ridge Trail is always a nice adventure. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Tar Heel Lake has to offer, you can camp at Black Forest Family Camping, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites BREVARD. This is no location for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Get your heart pumping on the good whitewater of Little River, and if you need a location to stay Hampton Inn Brevard NC is a pleasant choice. This lake is so wonderful.
