Turner Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and Stroud Pond is a splendid spot to visit for more than one day, Maxwell Mill Campground is a splendid spot to camp nearby. Here at Stroud Pond you'll almost certainly meet some people from Kinston; a great nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Kinston, Nc. Stroud Pond gets a good deal of water; July is when you get the most rain       here, and October is when it's the driest. At Stroud Pond through the summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's; all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Stroud Pond temperatures dip to the 30's.
