At Stedman Lake throughout the summer highs are in the 80's; the night is a tad chillier of course, typically in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are mostly in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Stedman Lake. There are good spots to look at along the Hanging Rock Trail; don't forget to take a pleasant little tour to Buck Island Creek. This is a       popular site for folks from Winston-Salem, and if you came for an overnight stay Sunset Park Campground is a great location to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Scott Lake is a perfect lake near Stedman Lake, and there's whitewater on Big Creek for all you thrill seekers. Go for a hike on the Cascade Trail, and there are some nice whitewater spots on Dan River. If only every place had this much outdoors amusing stuff, what a great planet it would be. Moores                  Springs Campground on the Dan River is a nice campground here, and do go to Stedman Lake Dam while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Moores Knob Trail, and after a long day outdoors Econo Lodge King is a wonderful site to spend a night or two. A great deal of rain falls at Stedman Lake; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; January meanwhile is the driest month.
