Speas Lakes is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Lakes are such peaceful spots, why not go to Mallard Lake Upper close to Speas Lakes; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Moores Knob Trail. If you came for an overnight stay Serenity Stables and Campground is a perfect spot to camp; get yourself into a kayak and hit Big Creek. Paitts Lake is a good lake right next door to Speas Lakes; the scenery at Piatts Lake
   Dam is stunning.
People from Winston-Salem love to come to Speas Lakes. Camping is available at Jomeokee Campground, and if you need a spot to stay Econo Lodge King is a glorious choice. High temperatures at Speas Lakes during the days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Speas Lakes temperatures fall to the 20's.

This lake is so wonderful. Get covered with water paddling on Dan River; on a nice day you can take a hike along the Cascade Trail. The high level of rainfall makes Speas Lakes a reasonably wet place; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month is November. And that's not all you can do here at Speas Lakes. Comfort Inn Winston-Salem is a good place to get some rest, and while you're here, you could take a look at Barkers Creek.
This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Cooks Wall Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and Grandview Golf Club is a nice golf course close by.

Sunset Park Campground
14 miles away
We love sunset park. Rates are 15.00, and we bought firewood for 5.00 also. My boys went paddling on the paddle boat and swimming in the pond.  We went hiking along a trail to see a big rock that was a part of pilot knob. Love the creek that ran thru the whole campground.  Love the family atmosphere. ...

Dan River

Hwy 772 access as been roped off with No-Trespassing signs. This access is used a lot during the summer months, but evidently it is private property or someone is confused.

Thought I'd let you know this since it's only a few miles from my house. That's a nice place to get in the river, but evidently somebody don't like the general public to use it. ...
