Smith Lake is not far at all from Dunn, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Spring Lake-Ft. Bragg/Pope Afb is a magnificent location to spend a night or two. Smith Lake is right by the Campbell Creek Loop, and visit nearby Black Swamp. Smith Lake is a wet place that gets a lot of precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is November.       This lake is so wonderful. Sleep Inn ,Inn & Suites is a nice place to get some rest, and the Fish Camp Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. There's tremendous hiking along the American Beech Trail. Lakes? Sure, Youngs Pond is in the neighborhood. At Smith Lake Dam close to Smith Lake there are some interesting things to see; there are other places here than Smith Lake, for example Wests Pond. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity                  to Smith Lake. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Little River, and you can stay the night at Lazy Acres. Get wet paddling on Cape Fear, and Smith Lake is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Fayetteville Koa is a glorious place to camp nearby. All through the warm months, highs frequently are in the 80's at Smith Lake. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's.
