You can run the rapids of Yadkin River in close proximity to Sims Pond, and a good close by hotel is Quality Inn & Suites. So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Sims Pond, too good to be true. NC Noname Two-Hundred Thirty-Nine Dam is a striking spot close to Sims Pond, and River Crest Golf Club is a golf course nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Park Inn Hickory is a great place to get some rest, and       Sims Pond is a nice location to camp, Pine Mountain Campground is a nice location. Sims Pond gets a lot of water; August is when you get the most rain here, and January on the other hand is the driest. At Sims Pond you always meet someone from Hickory-Morganton-Lenoir, and Elk Creek is a great whitewater spot close by. Sims Pond is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. During the days of summer here at Sims Pond, high temperatures usually get into the                  70's while overnight lows are typically in the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Sims Pond. That right there is heaps of cool things already but it goes on, the Blue Ridge Mountains has it all. Be careful coming to the Blue Ridge Mountains, you might not ever wanna go back home again.
