Shafords Lake is a wet place that gets a lot of precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here; October meanwhile is the driest month. If the weather is good here at Shafords Lake, you can go for a hike along the Bald Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Pine Valley Motel is a good choice, and Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club is a brilliant golf       course close by. So much exciting stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains, not sufficient time. Not far from Shafords Lake, you'll hit upon Spruce Pine Reservoir which is a beautiful lake. There's so much to do here at Shafords Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Spruce Pine Campground is a glorious site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Get soaked paddling on North Toe River; a good nearby hotel is Pinebridge Inn. All the outdoors amusing stuff                  in close proximity to Shafords Lake will keep you coming back many times. Don't forget to take a pleasant little journey to Banjo Branch, and Shafords Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Springmaid Mountain is a nice local campground. Briery Mountain is clearly visible from Shafords Lake, and glide down the rapids of Catawba River - North Fork in a kayak. At Shafords Lake throughout the summertime months highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Shafords Lake temperatures dip to the 20's. If you fancy a little side trip, try Gillespie Gap, and Swiss Pine Lake Dam is a delightful spot, without doubt worth taking a look at. This place, the Blue Ridge Mountains, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. The Laurel Fork Trail is a nice hiking trail in close proximity to Shafords Lake, and Appalachian Mountain is a delightful local ski area.
