Banjo Branch is a pleasant place to take a look at, and why not camp at Spruce Pine Campground while you're here at Shafords Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Swiss Pine Lake Dam is a beautiful spot close to Shafords Lake; dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Marion. Shafords Lake gets a good deal of water; July is the wettest month with most rain; the driest       month is October. Go for a hike on the Laurel Fork Trail, and Gillespie Gap is in the neighborhood, and is a wonderful place. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Shafords Lake. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Shafords Lake drop into the 20's. These mountains rock, just look at all the enjoyable things to                  do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Spruce Pine Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club is in close proximity. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Appalachian Mountain is in close proximity to Shafords Lake, and going for a hike on the Bald Mountain Trail is always a perfect adventure. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff to do are really bountiful here at Shafords Lake. While you're here at Shafords Lake, you could also check out gorgeous Swiss Pine Lake, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Marion NC is a good place to spend a night or two. Springmaid Mountain is a fine local campground, and North Toe River is a splendid whitewater spot close by. You get a great sight of Briery Mountain from Shafords Lake, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Catawba River - North Fork.
