This lake is one of the great places here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. All through the summertime months at Shafords Lake highs are generally in the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Shafords Lake. Banjo Branch is a pretty stream that is worth taking a look at;       there are good spots to discover along the Bald Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. At Shafords Lake you can catch a glimpse of Briery Mountain; a pleasant close by hotel is Marion Days Inn. But wait, there's more to do close to Shafords Lake. Stay the night at Spruce Pine Campground, and Swiss Pine Lake Dam is a striking site, positively worth a visit. Golf can be played at Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club, and while you're here, you could also                  check out delightful Spruce Pine Reservoir. Don't leave Shafords Lake without first going for a hike along the Laurel Fork Trail, and Gillespie Gap is a great site to spend some time. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There's whitewater on Catawba River - North Fork for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and hey, Gotta ski right? Appalachian Mountain is a fine place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Marion is a wonderful choice. There's so much to do here at Shafords Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Springmaid Mountain is a splendid spot for that. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. You'll hit upon a charming lake called Swiss Pine Lake near Shafords Lake, and there are some splendid whitewater spots on North Toe River. Just can't get enough of Shafords Lake.
