For you golfers we recommend close by Hemlock Golf Course. Scott Lake is a wet place that gets a great deal of rain; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is January. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Dan River, and hiking along the Cascade Trail is good fun. This lake is so wonderful. Camping       at Sunset Park Campground is always a fine experience, and Scott Lake is not the only place close by, Stedman Lake is a close by lake. Going for a hike along the Cooks Wall Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Winston-Salem here. Get soaked paddling on Dan River, and Scott Lake is right by the Hanging Rock Trail. The warmest time of the year at Scott Lake arrives with high temperatures                  in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. During the winter highs are generally in the 40's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Scott Lake dip into the 20's. There's some flowing water nearby, Flat Shoals Creek is a stream you can stop at while here; a magnificent close by hotel is Comfort Inn Winston-Salem. This lake is so wonderful. You could also pop by Camelot Woods Lake since you're here at Scott Lake; it's nearby; camping is available at Hanging Rock State Park.
