This is a nice region for folks who like lakes. Coopers Pond is a lake in the neighborhood, and lots of folks from Rocky Mount come here. Ricks Pond ordinarily gets lots of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August; April meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Enfield/Rocky Mount KOA is a pleasant campground nearby, and getting to Gideon Swamp from Ricks Pond is trouble-free.       There are great spots to look at along the Discovery Loop Trail; get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Tar River. Near Ricks Pond you hit upon the Bluff Loop Trail which is a good hiking trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Doziers Lake. KOA Campgrounds is a good local campground; if you need a place to stay Rocky Mount - Days Inn Goldrock/I-95 is a tremendous choice. So many fun things                  in close proximity to Ricks Pond, definitely phenomenal. Do go to Ricks Pond Dam while you're here at Ricks Pond, and going for a hike on the Stream Loop Trail is always a great adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Guesthouse Rocky Mount is a splendid site to get some rest. High temperatures at Ricks Pond during the days of summer are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
