Rainbow Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a pretty outdoors paradise. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You're probably into lakes, Lake Wanteska is one of those nearby, and in case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater       paddling on French Broad River - East Fork. This lake is so wonderful. On a brilliant day at Rainbow Lake you can take a hike along the Mullinax Trail, and a glorious place to have a look at nearby is Wallace Gap. Rainbow Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, our 100 Acre Woods - Primitive Campground is a wonderful local campground, and whitewater paddling is perfect on French Broad River - North Fork. For the period of the warm days of                  summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Rainbow Lake. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and night lows at Rainbow Lake during the wintertime typically fall into the 20's. Rainbow Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; throughout March this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
