For the duration of the summer months at Petree Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Petree Lake. You'll meet a lot of people from Winston-Salem here; Dan River is a delightful whitewater spot close by. There is a tremendous hiking trail in the neighborhood of Petree Lake called the Cascade Trail,       and camping is available at Moores Springs Campground on the Dan River. If the weather is good here at Petree Lake, you can go for a hike along the Cooks Wall Trail, and if you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Winston-Salem is a pleasant choice. And if that's not enough, there's loads more to do right next door to Petree Lake. On a magnificent day at Petree Lake you can take a hike along the Moores Knob Trail. Lakes are good; Mallard Lake Lower is a lake                  that's right next door to Petree Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A great close by hotel is Holiday Inn Select Winston-Salem-Univ Pkwy, Nc, and if you came for an overnight stay Serenity Stables and Campground is a great spot to camp. This lake is so wonderful. An afternoon playing golf at Stonewall Golf Course is always a diversion, and there's always Petree Lake Dam to pop by close to Petree Lake. In case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Creek, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by K and W Lake.
