If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Persimmon Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Poteete Creek Camp Ground is a great local campground, and there's whitewater on Bald River for all you adrenaline junkies. This place, the Great Smoky Mountains, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Take a side trip to Flax Creek. There's so much to do here       at Persimmon Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Pine Creek Cabins Campground is a glorious place for that. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Murphy, Nc is a fine choice, and Persimmon Lake is right by the Kirkland Creek Trail. Persimmon Lake is a wet spot that gets much rainfall; March is the month that gets the most rain; October is when it's the driest. Summer at Persimmon Lake comes with high temperatures in the                  80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows through the wintertime for Persimmon Lake tend to be in the 20's. Persimmon Lake is a beautiful lake in the Great Smoky Mountains. If only every place had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great planet it would be. Playing golf is lots of fun at Cherokee Hills Golf Club; a wonderful close by hotel is Days Inn Murphy. This lake is so wonderful. A fine place to visit close to Persimmon Lake is Sandy Gap, and you can run the rapids of Turtletown Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Persimmon Lake you obtain some great water scenery at Persimmon Dam, and you can have a fine hiking adventure along the Doc Rogers Trail.
