Olde Fort Golf Course is a pleasant golf course nearby, and don't forget to take a wonderful little trip to Liliput Creek. This lake is so wonderful. A tour to Orton Point in the neighborhood of Orton Pond is always a wonderful idea, and if you need a       location to stay Drifters Reef Motel is a great choice. A tremendous place to camp here at Orton Pond is Woodside Campground; dry warm beds await you at Microtel Inn And Suites Carolina Beach. The high level of rain makes Orton Pond a relatively wet place; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is April. Swamps are interesting spots and Big Bay close to Orton Pond is no exception, and Orton Pond                  is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Carolina Beach Campground is a nice local campground. High temperatures at Orton Pond all through the long summer days are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 70's.
