Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Occoneechee Lake. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Occoneechee Lake are in the 20's. The summit of Grassy Knob can be observed from Occoneechee Lake; if you come at the right time of year, Rocky Broad River offers some delightful whitewater. Just can't get enough of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

While you're here at Occoneechee Lake, you could also have a look at beautiful Hickory Nut Upper Lake, and Occoneechee Lake Dam has splendid water scenery. This lake is so wonderful. | |

If you came for an overnight stay Hitching Post Campground is a splendid place to camp, and drift down the rapids of Broad River in a kayak. And if that's not enough there's a lot more fun stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Near Occoneechee Lake you stumble on a golf course called Lake Lure Golf Course, and Apple Valley Villas is a splendid place to get some rest. A delightful spot in the vicinity of Occoneechee Lake is Hickorynut Gap, and do have a
look at Lake Lure, it's a striking lake. Much rainfall falls at Occoneechee Lake; the wettest month of the year is regularly May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is December. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Apple Valley Farm Motorcoach Resort.
