There is a tremendous hiking trail in the neighborhood of Nichols Lake called the Hanging Rock Trail, and a pleasant place for whitewater paddling is Dan River. High temperatures at Nichols Lake during the warm months are in the 80's, and the night is a bit colder of course, regularly in the 60's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Nichols Lake. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don't mind getting

| | wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dan River; dry warm beds await you at Wingate by Wyndham Winston-Salem. The Cooks Wall Trail is a splendid hiking trail next to Nichols Lake; camping at Oak Hollow Campground is always a fine experience. Nichols Lake is a wet location that gets a large amount of rain; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. is always a nice adventure; a wonderful lake like Lee Lake is a good place to go to. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such calm locations, why not explore Salem Lake in close proximity to Nichols Lake; if you need a location to
stay Brookstown Inn is a nice choice. You're sure to encounter some smiling folks from Winston-Salem here. There's some flowing water close by, Fishers Branch is a stream you can stop at while here, and the scenery at Nichols
Lake Dam is beautiful. What a place this is for outdoors people. Reynolds Park Golf Course is a great golf course nearby; camping is available at Humphrey's Ridge Camp.

 | 15 miles away Hwy 772 access as been roped off with No-Trespassing signs. This access is used a lot during the summer months, but evidently it is private property or someone is confused.
