Lakes are splendid; Salem Lake is a lake that's near Myers Pond, and if you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dan River. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful close by hotel is Brookstown Inn, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Cooks Wall Trail. This lake is so wonderful.
