Mill Pond is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Grandfather Campground and Cabins; if you're stopping by from Boone, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. The Laurel Fork Trail is a pleasant hiking trail in the neighborhood of Mill Pond, and if you came for an overnight stay Down By The River Campground is a wonderful location to camp. Hawksnest has good slopes and a friendly staff,

| | and Beech Mountain is a peak you can observe from Mill Pond. A tremendous spot for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Mill Pond is Elk River, and on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Yancey Ridge Trail. Playing golf is lots of fun at Mountain Glen Golf Club, and good skiing awaits you at Sugar Mountain. Why not take a look at nearby Bee Branch while you're here at Mill Pond, and a trip to Buckeye Spring will fill your spirit with pleasant | |

feelings. This is a splendid vicinity for folks who like lakes. Wildcat Lake is a lake around here, and no need to travel far to stop by exciting stuff like Pinnacle of the Sugar. This lake is so wonderful. During the warm months
here at Mill Pond, high temperatures typically reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Mill Pond.
Lakes are good; Inver Lochy Lake is a lake that's near Mill Pond; dry warm beds await you at Beech Mountain Inns. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Mill Pond. Mill Pond is close to Sugar Gap which
is unquestionably worth taking a look at; if you're here you can take a hike along the Daniel Boone Scout Trail. Be careful coming to Mill Pond, you might not ever want to return back home again. Elk River is a tremendous whitewater
spot near Mill Pond; if you need a spot to stay Best Western Mountain Lodge At Banner Elk is a tremendous choice. Mill Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; May is the month that gets the most rain while December is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

Laurel Fork Trail
 | 14 miles away 6 PHOTOS Not normally hikers, and middle aged, this trail was a killer. We had a great time, and the scenery was beautiful, but we were worn out. We ran into a copperhead, twice, once on the way up, and again on the way down. Apparently he was guarding his territory. The falls weren't as full as we hoped, but there has been a lack of rain in this area. The trail in some area's were a bit rough, steep, and dangerous, but at least we can say we made it.... |

 | 19 miles away Springmaid Mountain is a beautiful place to visit. Even if you don't like camping they also have cabins. If you go camping, try going in the off season. We went in Sept. 05 and we basically had the campground to ourselves! Even if others were in the campground, the sites are spaced apart. Its a great getaway.... |
