There's just no way someone can get bored here at McIlhennys Pond. You'll meet a lot of people from Wilmington here, and why not go to Dream Tree Point also since you're here. Stemmerman's Inn is a fine place to get some rest; do stop by Greenfield Lake, it's a beautiful lake. If you need a spot to stay Comfort Suites Leland is a wonderful choice, and hiking along the Tarheel Trail       is wonderful fun. Beaverdam Pond is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and Jackeys Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth taking a look at. The high level of precipitation makes McIlhennys Pond a pretty wet place; July is when you get the most rain here, and October is when it's the driest. McIlhennys Pond is right by the History Trail, and Carolina Beach Campground is a magnificent local campground. This lake is so wonderful.                  This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Wrightsville Village is a good place to camp; Castle Bay Golf Course is a good golf course close by. During the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 80's at McIlhennys Pond; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
