McIlhennys Pond is a nice lake to visit. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a great time here at McIlhennys Pond. The wonderful people of Wilmington like to hang out nearby; a tremendous close by hotel is Stemmerman S Inn. If you need a place to stay Town & Country Motel is a great choice. You'll need more than a day to explore everything McIlhennys Pond has to offer, you can camp at Wrightsville Village.

| | that you need to camp here for a while, Carolina Beach Campground is a good place for that; great hiking is available along the History Trail. While you're here at McIlhennys Pond you have to check out Dream Tree Point, and Jackeys Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth taking a look at. This lake is so wonderful. Why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Castle Bay Golf Course; there's fine hiking along the Tarheel Trail.

Through the summer highs here at McIlhennys Pond reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at McIlhennys Pond.
McIlhennys Pond is a wet place that gets a great deal of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly July, that's the one that rains the most, and October is when it's the driest.
