A lake nearby is Sylva Reservoir; if you need a location to stay Ramada Limited Maggie Valley is a good choice. While staying at McGuire Lake you could always explore Chestnut Gap; why not a little side spree to Rocky Face Branch. This lake is so wonderful. On a tremendous day at McGuire Lake you can take a hike along the Shortoff Mountain Trail, and Scotts Creek has a fine whitewater       paddling spot nearby. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff near McGuire Lake. Near McGuire Lake you come across the Caldwell Fork Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. You'll need more than a day to look at everything McGuire Lake has to offer, you can camp at Moonshine Creek. Everybody nearby loves skiing at Cataloochee. There's so much to do here at McGuire Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Singing waters Camping Resort is a great                  spot for that. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Tuckasegee River; dry warm beds await you at Best Western River Escape Inn & Suites. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is always beautiful. What a place this is for outdoors people. For the duration of the warmest time of the year highs here at McGuire Lake get into the 80's with night lows in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at McGuire Lake. You absolutely should have a thing about the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you get bored of McGuire Lake, you could also pop by close by Hodge Lake; Buck Knob can be observed from McGuire Lake. The Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail is a pleasant hiking trail in close proximity to McGuire Lake, and you don’t have to go far from McGuire Lake to make out the water at McGuire Lake Dam.
