Good hiking is available along the Shortoff Mountain Trail; Buck Knob is beautiful and can be seen from here. Any time is a delightful time at McGuire Lake if you like the outdoors. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around McGuire Lake; Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail is a splendid local trail, and camping is available at Singing waters Camping Resort. Be careful coming to the       Blue Ridge Mountains, you might not ever want to go home again. There's some flowing water close by, Rocky Face Branch is a stream you can visit while you're here; camping at Moonshine Creek is always a glorious experience. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Scotts Creek, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Cataloochee since you're here. Yeah, come up here to the Blue Ridge Mountains for a good                  time. You can take a little visit to McGuire Lake Dam while you're here at McGuire Lake, and after a long day outdoors Best Western River Escape Inn & Suites is a great spot to spend a night or two. This lake is located in the wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains. The Caldwell Fork Trail offers hiking at its best, and a splendid nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Dillsboro, Nc. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such calm places, why not take a look at Hodge Lake in close proximity to McGuire Lake, and there are some brilliant whitewater spots on Tuckasegee River. This location is so good, just explore all the exciting stuff to do right next door to McGuire Lake. You'll locate a lovely lake called Sylva Reservoir near McGuire Lake; close by Chestnut Gap is a great place to go. At McGuire Lake during the days of summer highs are in the 80's, and the overnight is a little cooler of course, usually in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to McGuire Lake.
