You're possibly addicted to lakes, G R Barbour Pond is one of those nearby, and paddling on Cape Fear is so much fun. The amount of rainfall that falls at Massengill Mill Pond is close to the national average; August is the wettest month with most rain, and April is when it's the driest. The Group Camp Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you've had enough of Massengill Mill Pond, McGee Pond is close by. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! Massengill

Getting to Camp Branch from Massengill Mill Pond is trouble-free; Massengill Mill Pond is not far at all from Dunn. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Massengill Mill Pond, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 20's | |

This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Four Oaks Lodging
and RV Resort is a pleasant place to camp, and whitewater paddling is magnificent on Upper Little River. Smithfield KOA is a pleasant local campground, also Massengill Mill Pond Dam is worth taking a look at if you're here.

Guys Pond
 | Guy's Pond is a great place to fish. As of my latest fishing trip on 1/25/2009, it was $3 per person and $4 per night camping. Also, 14 years of age and younger were free! This is a great pond. While you are fishing, you can watch the cows, and/or the horses. The pond is much better than Pope's Lake. They kicked us out of that lake on the same day as my trip to Guy's Pond. I rate this pond as a 10 and suggest anyone in the area looking for a fishing hole should try Guy's Pond.... |

Beaverdam Lake

Beaverdam Lake is really a part of Falls Lake. It is approximately fifteen minutes north of the I-540 beltway on Highway 50. Beaverdam Lake is separated from the main lake by a partial dam and bridge. It is approximately 500 acres in size.
Beaverdam Lake is restricted; no gasoline engines are allowed. This makes it a great place for kayaks, canoes, sailboats and electric-motor propelled boats. It has a very nice concrete boat ramp and adjacent dock, and has a very large parking lot. Adjacent to the boat launching ramp is a nice sand beach with floats delineating the swimming area and a small pavilion.
