    Do stop by MacGregor Downs Lake while you're in this part of North Carolina. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to MacGregor Downs Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at MacGregor Downs Lake temperatures drop to the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Near MacGregor Downs Lake you locate the East Loop Horse Trail which is a good hiking trail, and MacGregor Downs  
   Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Champion Cheerleading Camps is a great local campground. There's so much to do here at MacGregor Downs Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Dream Camps is a great place for that.
Lakes are tremendous; Apex Lake is a lake that's in the vicinity of MacGregor Downs Lake, and there is a good hiking trail close by called the West Loop Horse Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Homewood Suites Raleigh-Cary,
 
               and you're probably into lakes, McGregor Downs Lake is one of those close by. Just can't get enough of MacGregor Downs Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Buckhorn Creek, and the friendly folks of Raleigh-Cary like to hang out nearby.
Courtyard By Marriott Raleigh/Cary is a glorious location to get some rest; there's whitewater on Cape Fear for all you adrenaline junkies. There's always McGregor Downs Lake Dam to explore in the neighborhood of MacGregor Downs Lake, and why not stop at nearby Long Branch while you're here at MacGregor Downs Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Lochmere Golf Club is a splendid golf course nearby; going for a hike on the Little Creek Loop Trail is always a great adventure.
All the water falling down from the sky makes MacGregor Downs Lake a wet place; through May this area sees the most rain, and September is when it's the driest.

Guys Pond

Guy's Pond is a great place to fish.  As of my latest fishing trip on 1/25/2009, it was $3 per person and $4 per night camping.  Also, 14 years of age and younger were free!  This is a great pond.  While you are fishing, you can watch the cows, and/or the horses.  The pond is much better than Pope's Lake.  They kicked us out of that lake on the same day as my trip to Guy's Pond.  I rate this pond as a 10 and suggest anyone in the area looking for a fishing hole should try Guy's Pond....
