Hiking along the Yancey Ridge Trail is tremendous fun; get yourself into a kayak and hit Johns River. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Sleep Inn Morganton is a splendid choice. Lakes? Sure, Morganton Watershed Lake is in the neighborhood. careful coming to the Blue Ridge Mountains, you might not ever wanna go back home again. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Noname, and near Leonhart Lake you stumble on a golf course called Pine
Mountain Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. A nice place to camp here at Leonhart Lake is Caretakers Cottage; a day on the slopes of Appalachian Mountain is just what you need. Leonhart Lake is a rather wet place ordinarily
with a great deal of rainfall; most of the rain falls through May while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you come at the right time of year, Wilson Creek offers some fine whitewater, and Leonhart Dam is an interesting thing to check out. Leonhart Lake is one of the lakes here in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
