Cable Cove Campground
Great campground. Not too big (20 sites?), rarely full. Large tent pads, fire rings with grill tops, a separate charcoal grill, picnic tables, and sometimes 2 lantern posts are set on spacious lots set far off the road with most parking areas big enough to accomidate large RV's. Access to campground and boat ramp is paved the whole way. Water and a primative flush toilet provided. Camping close to the entrance may include noises from the pumphouse at night. Only a quarter mile from boat ramp on one of the most beautiful sections of Lake Fontana. Great canoe-camping. The interpretive trail is probably a little over a mile long. Extensive hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking close by. Closest store is at Fontana Village, about 8 mi. away, and if they're closed, I think that the closest beer is some 30 mi. away in Bryson City. Be farwarned. PLEASE BE COURTIOUS TO OTHERS AND LEAVE BARKING DOGS AT HOME!...

South Fork Citico Trail
17 miles away I am planning on hiking and backpacking on this trail in May and would like to know if anyone has any other experiences or recommendations on loops....
Rufus Morgan Trail
19 miles away Excellent hiking trail with good access and beautiful falls. Rufus Morgan is a moderately hard short trail up to stunning 60' falls. Beautiful forest surrounds the trail. Be careful and tell someone you're going though... there's no on around for miles and if you get lost or hurt, you're on you're own. The waterfall is at the end of the trail and is easy to find. The road up to the trail is just a forest service road, but it is in great condition and there's a marked parking area (4 spots) with signage at the trailhead. We went in early August and the trail is not overgrown and in great shape....
Ober Gatlinburg
27 miles away 8 PHOTOS I went there 2 days ago. It was so fun.... Ober Gatlinburg doesn't have a lot of different runs to choose from but it's pretty ok based on the area....
