MORE STUFF NEARBY:

B V Hedrick Sand and Gravel Lake

Tall long leaf pines, beautiful blue water, starry sky...nature thrives in peace. Al would be 60 now and know every inch of this lovely land.  It is a sanctuary....

Uwharrie National Recreation Trail
17 miles away
I hiked this trail today and saw a bear sleeping in the middle of the trail....

Falls Reservoir
17 miles away
Outstanding scenery! Like a storybook setting , although last time I went , it was close to 100 degrees....It is a very great lake for fishing. There is absolutly no recreation(jet-skiers, water skiers). You must be careful, there are many unmarked water hazards (most are near the upper dam). I wouldn't take an expensive boat on the lake....The perfect place to find yourself lost among nature and forget all of your ''big'' city problems without a 3 day hike into the woods....Falls Reservoir is a hidden jewel. Located between two dams. No development whatsoever....
