Tar River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby, and it's a great idea to stop by Town Creek. Stay the night at Contentea Campground, and Budget Inn is a brilliant spot to get some rest. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Hokes Pond reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 40's; overnight lows through the winter for Hokes       Pond tend to be in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Hokes Pond is not the only location close by, Winslows Pond is a close by lake, and the fine folks of Greenville like to hang out nearby. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. There's always Hokes Pond Dam to visit near Hokes Pond; after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Tarboro is a delightful location to spend a night or two.
