Cole Gap is a good spot to go to close by, and perfect hiking is available along the Shortoff Mountain Trail. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Sky Valley if you're here, and you can stay the night at Van Hook Glade Campground. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Highlands Reservoir. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Highlands Reservoir are in the 20's. Cole Mountain is a peak you can make out from Highlands Reservoir, and some out of the ordinary geology is available here, Western Cliffs is right here. This lake is so wonderful. You'll hit upon a pretty lake called Randall Lake near Highlands Reservoir. There's so much to do here at Highlands Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Vanhook Glade Campground is a great place for that. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Old Edwards Inn and Spa is a great spot to spend a night or two; there's whitewater on Cullasaja River for all you thrill seekers. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Blue Ridge Mountains rules!
