Summer brings highs in the 80's to Hickory Nut Upper Lake. Summer night lows drop down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Hickory Nut Upper Lake. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Buffalo Creek is a great local stream, and if you're popping by from Forest       City, you won't be the only one. While you're here at Hickory Nut Upper Lake, you could also go to delightful Lake Lure, and the sight of Buzzards Roost is wonderful. Just can't get enough of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Apple Valley Farm Motorcoach Resort is a magnificent local campground; a brilliant nearby hotel is Apple Valley Villas. Hickory Nut Upper Lake truly is in the middle of a wonderful outdoors paradise. Broad River is a wonderful whitewater spot                  right next door to Hickory Nut Upper Lake; if you need a place to stay Fairfield Mountains Resort is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Green River, and since you're here you can play some golf at Apple Valley Golf Course. Hickory Nut Upper Lake is a wet place that gets a large amount of rainfall; May is when you get the most rain here, and December is the month with the least moisture. Hitching Post Campground is a great campground nearby, and nearby you stumble on magnificent places like Hickorynut Gap. This lake is so wonderful.
