Springmaid Mountain
Springmaid Mountain is a beautiful place to visit. Even if you don't like camping they also have cabins. If you go camping, try going in the off season. We went in Sept. 05 and we basically had the campground to ourselves! Even if others were in the campground, the sites are spaced apart. Its a great getaway....

Lake James Landing
14 miles away
We are looking forward to our first full year at Lake James Landing. We're hoping to find cooler summer temps than our central Florida normal. The Landings are beautifully maintained & other RV'ers are friendly helpful folks. Can't wait to get up there....We have a camper at Lake James Landing, and we enjoy it very much! Friendly folks, family oriented, and quiet. There are 4 ramps for launching boats, and the campground is currently expanding under new ownership. There are docks for launching, and plenty of room to beach your boat overnight. We've never had an issue with theft or vandalism while leaving our boat beached while we are camping. I highly recommend this campground for campers with children....

Laurel Fork Trail

Not normally hikers, and middle aged, this trail was a killer. We had a great time, and the scenery was beautiful, but we were worn out. We ran into a copperhead, twice, once on the way up, and again on the way down. Apparently he was guarding his territory. The falls weren't as full as we hoped, but there has been a lack of rain in this area. The trail in some area's were a bit rough, steep, and dangerous, but at least we can say we made it....

Toe river campground is awesome, my family and I have two favorite spots. We bring our camper down and leave it all summer. We come down every weekend. We love it and it is family friendly!!!...Toe River Campground is managed by some great folks this time around and looks better than we have ever seen it. It is a clean, family safe campground with a river running along the edge. You have to see this one to believe the way things have changed. If you have never been it is worth the trip! ...
