Gum Lake is a quite wet place regularly with a great deal of rainfall; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while April is usually the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. At Gum Lake all through the months of summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Gum Lake dipping       down into the 20's through winter nights. After a long day outdoors Quality Inn Battleboro is a brilliant place to spend a night or two, and you can stay the night at Enfield/Rocky Mount KOA. Yeah, come here to Gum Lake for a tremendous time. Dry warm beds await you at Howard Johnson Inn, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Dam Site Loop Trail. Very fine water scenery is available at Bellamys Lake Dam near Gum Lake; Gum Lake is a good place                  to visit for more than one day, KOA Campgrounds is a good place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Playing golf is lots of fun at Hickory Meadows Golf Course; during your trip here you'll meet some people from Rocky Mount for sure. Looking for some flowing water? Try Beaverdam Swamp; if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Discovery Loop Trail.
