If you like lakes and you're in this part of North Carolina you can check out Griffin Lake. Griffin Lake is a reasonably wet place usually with much rain; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is January. For the duration of the days of summer at Griffin Lake highs are commonly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Griffin

| | Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Catawba River - South Fork, and if you need a place to stay Comfort Suites Hickory is a good choice.
This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Lake Hickory RV Resort; near Griffin Lake you stumble on a golf course called Henry River Golf Club. If only every place had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great world | |

it would be. Do check out Griffin Dam while you're here at Griffin Lake. There's so much to do here at Griffin Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Pine Mountain Campground is a great site for that. Dry warm beds await you
at Sleep Inn Hickory.
While you're here at Griffin Lake, you could also have a look at scenic Shuford Mills Lake; since you're here, you could go to Barger Branch. You'll find a lovely lake called James Lake near Griffin Lake, and Griffin Lake is not far at all from Hickory-Morganton-Lenoir.
