This lake is so wonderful. Near Grandmother Lake you come across the Yancey Ridge Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail, and if the weather is delightful, you acquire a nice vista of Beacon Heights from Grandmother Lake. Grandmother Lake generally gets a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while December is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Grandmother Lake. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's.
