     Here at Gainey Millpond there are plenty of folks from Fayetteville. Lakes are good; Maxwell Millpond is a lake that's near Gainey Millpond. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Gainey Millpond. Not far from Gainey Millpond, you'll hit upon Tart Millpond which is a picturesque lake. Throughout the warm days of summer highs here at Gainey Millpond get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs  
   in the 50's; overnight lows at Gainey Millpond during the wintertime mostly plunge into the 20's. Gainey Millpond is a pretty wet place mostly with a good deal of precipitation; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is October.
This lake is so wonderful. A nice nearby hotel is Fayetteville Red Roof Inn. There's so much to do here at Gainey Millpond that you need to camp here for a while, Fayetteville Koa is
 
               a tremendous location for that. If you need a location to stay Days Inn Fayetteville/Wade-North of Ft Bragg I-95/Exit 58 is a splendid choice, and Gainey Millpond is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Laurel Lakes Campground and Music Park is a glorious local campground. Getting to Jones Swamp from Gainey Millpond is easy, and you can run the rapids of Upper Little River.

Smith lake is a nice place to camp, bike ride and swim. I have 3 young children and they had a BLAST! We plan on going again very soon. Bathrooms were clean and out of some of the campsites I've been to this is the one I like....Nice area for hiking, running, mt biking.  Also nice beach area for the summer....
